The 100 glass window panels, 2’ x 2’ which comprise the full 200’ length of the window composition that was designed by Jennifer Bartlett. Von Roenn was asked by the architect, Cesar Pelli, his former dean at Yale, to work with Bartlett in translating her paintings into glass. Each of the 2’ x 2’ glass panels contain more than 250 individual hemispherical glass 3/8” diameter or a total of more than 250,000 individual hemispheres produced to identical dimensions from a new mechanized technique developed by von Roenn. The base sheet of each panel was silkscreened with an opaque white glass pain, fired permanently into the surface of the glass. The ‘floating’ squares in the composition were created with gold and sliver leaf affixed permanently to the glass surface and were laminated to the base sheet of glass.
